Gerry McDougall

Local Representative

Gerry became the NLA’s Local Representative for Dundee and Fife in December 2009. Originally from the Republic of Ireland, she moved to England in the mid-1970’s. “After a brief spell in Wiltshire I moved to Scotland in 2007, got married in 2009 and now live near Leven in Fife,” she told UK Landlord. “I became NLA Property Woman of the Year for Scotland in 2009, less than two years after buying my first property!”

Prior to 2007 Gerry had no experience of the buy-to-let market so she had to learn fast and couldn’t afford to make too many mistakes. The information she learned from the various experts within the NLA has been invaluable in building her portfolio and so when the opportunity arose to join the team, she didn’t hesitate to apply. This year, Gerry’s priorities are to raise awareness for landlords and local authorities in Dundee and Fife of the role of the NLA and the support that is on offer.

Together with her husband, she now has nine properties, rented primarily to Local Housing Allowance recipients. Her aim is to provide decent, well maintained homes to her tenants.
