Sally Thorn

Regions Co-ordinator

Sally has worked in the private rented sector for around 12 years.  After 2 years as a tenancy manager in London for a subsidiary of a well known UK wide lettings agency she moved back to the south coast and became the first employee of Southern Private Landlords Association (SPLA).

During her 9 years at SPLA Sally performed a variety of roles as the membership grew; Administration Assistant, Administration Manager, Helpline Manager,  Company Secretary, Operations Support Manager. Sally also  took minutes for nearly every National Federation of Residential Landlords council meeting for about 5 years, on which sat a representative from each of the majority of landlords associations in the UK.   In 2007 SPLA, trading as NFRL, merged with the NLA.

“Having been both a landlord and a tenant, having listened to landlords’ issues from around the UK, and having worked in lettings agencies before landlords’ associations were well known, I really understand the value a membership association can give to landlords. Without fellow local landlords and more experienced landlords to talk to, landlords are lost in a sea of ambiguous regulation and have little hope of setting up stress free relationships with their tenants.”
