Aims & objectives

Aims

The National Landlords Association strives for a society with a private-rented sector that is a safe, secure and viable investment operating in a free-market economy. To this end, the Association works in co-operation with national and local government for a thriving private-rented sector where the legislative framework provides for a fair and equitable balance between the interests of residential landlords and tenants.

The Association is committed to promoting and protecting the interests of private residential landlords and to encouraging the supply of good quality accommodation under sound management.

Objectives

  • Establish itself as the leading organisation for private landlords in the UK by expanding its membership through an increase in market penetration.
  • Encourage good standards of management in the private-rented sector, principally by promoting codes of practice.
  • Lobby government and other national agencies at all levels with a view to influencing the legislative and regulatory environment for the private-rented sector.
  • Create an effective regional and local branch network that can work in co-operation with local authorities to establish a reasonable and equitable balance between the private rented sector and enforcement agencies.
  • Work in co-operation with other organisations where there is a common interest in the private-rented sector.
  • Develop a range of member services with a view to encouraging private landlords to remain in the sector and encouraging others to join.

Terms

  • See our Aims & Objectives above.
  • If you purchase any publications from the NLA, or apply to join, we aim to process and despatch within 2 working days following receipt of your order and payment (but please allow up to 10 days for postal delays).
  • We regret that we are mostly unable to accept goods or membership back for credit.
  • Membership is valid for one year and then renewable. We can only consider partial refunds after two complete years of paid-up membership.
  • The subscription for Voting and Non-Voting Members is the same. Voting members undertake to contribute a maximum of £5 to the assets of NLA should the company be wound up as insolvent within one year of the expiry of the membership of the Voting Member. Voting Members are entitled to vote at AGMs and general meetings on candidates for appointment to the Board and on policy.
  • All written and oral advice from the Association is given in good faith. No responsibility is accepted by the Association or its Officers for the accuracy of its advice, nor shall the Association be held liable for the consequence of reliance upon such advice.
  • Our database of member details is kept securely and we never divulge individual's details to third parties without their specific prior consent.
