Will you be ready for Digital Switchover?
from "UK Landlord" magazine, March 2007
The analogue TV signal which television viewers currently receive is due to be
switched off across the UK by 2012. Preparations for the switchover to the digital
television signal are well underway. Satellite system operator, ASTRA UK, explains the
implications for landlords.
The process of digital switchover will be phased across the UK, with the Scottish Borders region geared up for the first transition in 2008. Although 72 per cent of households have already converted to digital television, switchover could present a significant challenge for landlords who own or manage multiple dwelling units (MDUs). MDUs make up 20 per cent of all UK households. They take a number of forms, including blocks of flats, converted period buildings or subdivided houses.
