HMRC tax warning
from "UK Landlord" magazine, May 2007
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has launched an advertising campaign to remind landlords to declare and pay tax on earnings.
Stuart Hartlib, HMRC's director of risk and intelligence, said "If landlords are self-employed they can download a form online, or call the self-employed helpline."
Hartlib advised that "landlords should register with the HRMC within the first three months of starting up a new business." Landlords can find out if they are liable for tax by logging on to www.hmrc.gov.uk/findout or by
calling 0845 915 4515.
