Fife and York Landlords join forces with NLA
from "UK Landlord" magazine, July 2007
The NLA has welcomed announcements by two active landlords associations who have decided to unite with the NLA in its aims to build a truly representative, nationwide professional body that will protect the interest of landlords.
The Fife Landlords Association's unanimous vote to merge with the NLA means that its 95 members will now be members of NLA Fife, a branch of NLA Scotland.
Jim Parker, Chief Executive of Fife Landlords and now Chairman of NLA Scotland sees the merger as a strategic move in the interests of landlords in Scotland. "Landlords across the country simply have to come together to produce a coherent voice. This is very much the case in Scotland where the private-rented sector remains under pressure. We believe joining up with the NLA will contribute to safeguarding the interests of our members because we will be part of the process of building a truly representative and professional body that will defend the interest of landlords and explain their key role in providing accommodation." The decision was taken following a year of the FLA being affiliated to the NLA. FLA Chairman, Jim Stevenson, said, "We will remain very much a local organisation embedded in our part of Scotland but at the same time we will be playing our full part in developing NLA Scotland."
York Residential Landlords Association has also taken a decision to work closely with the NLA in representing the interests of privaterented
sector landlords by becoming an affiliate to the NLA.
