SPECIAL FEATURE: Maintenance & Repairs

Step-by-step planning for Loft Conversions & Extensions

1. Make a wish list
Once you've ascertained that your loft has the prerequisites for conversion or that you have enough room to add an extension to your property, it's time to draw up a list of what, exactly, you want. Be as detailed as possible, as this will enable whoever draws the plan to create an accurate picture; this, in turn, will facilitate getting a quote on building costs. How many windows do you need? What kind of floor? Do you want exposed or covered beams?
