Massive Manchester Development
Given Go Ahead
from "UK Landlord" magazine, March 2008
Manchester City Council has given consent for plans to redevelop 38 hectares of industrial Manchester into the Holt Town Waterfront.
The proposed regeneration is the largest planning application ever to be approved in the city, and over the next 15 years will provide 4,300 new homes just a mile from the city centre. The complex will be connected to the city's Metrolink system with its own tram stop. Family accommodation has been prioritised with an assortment of affordable houses, flats, and duplexes to be built, each with their own parking facilities and access to around 12 hectares of public green space, including a new river valley park. Although predominantly a residential development, space for offices, retail and leisure units will be allocated in order to ensure the presence of local amenities.
The first development parcels are expected to be released to the market after Easter.
