Agenda:

  • Steve Simpson - National Sales Manager, NLA Mortgages
"A bright future for the buy to let mortgage market"
Is this a good time to be a landlord? Is the credit crunch over? Steve will discuss mortgage availability, NLA mortgages, the buy to let market place, the birth of a new lending era and looking forward.
  • Jim Colon - Bell & Buxton Solicitors
"Collision course? Eviction and human rights"
In late 2010 Stirling Moss, the former racing driver turned residential landlord who is no stranger to a bit of crash, bang, wollop, made the papers after becoming embroiled in protracted eviction proceedings. The tenants used European and human rights law to resist eviction. Jim Conlon's presentation will look at the background to that and associated cases, the effect of European and human rights law on eviction procedure, the possible repercussions for landlords and how those difficulties may be addressed. Jim Colon is a solicitor working within the Commercial department at Bell & Buxton and specialising in litigation. Jim provides litigation advice and services to Bell & Buxton's clients on a wide range of matters including landlord and tenant disputes, debt recovery and complex contract disputes.
  • John Squire - Sheffield City Council
    "Local Housing Allowance"
