NLA Thanet Branch Special Meeting
Event Overview:
Do you let any of your properties to 3 or more tenants? If the answer is yes then you let a shared house – a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).
Thanet District Council is proposing to limit the number of shared housing by requiring planning permission for all new HMOs in Thanet.
To oppose this unnecessary move, the NLA is running a local campaign to oppose this Direction so please support us by clicking on the link below and registering your opposition with the decision-maker at Thanet District Council – Cabinet Member for Customer Services and Business Transformation and Regulatory Services, Cllr Simon Moores.
We have also arranged a special meeting on Monday 4 April at 6pm in the Portland Centre, St Peter’s in Thanet, Hopeville Avenue, St Peter’s, Broadstairs, CT10 4TR for members who either have or are thinking about buying property in Thanet. You will hear from representatives of the Council on why they have decided to apply for these powers and how they anticipate it will affect landlords and residents.
Many landlords were unaware of the proposal so this meeting will allow landlords, students and residents an opportunity to understand the wider implications of the move prior to a final decision being made. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and make council officials aware of your views.
We hope that as many landlords as possible will come along to fully understand the implications for them and let the Council know their views. In order to try and make sure we have a room large enough to accommodate the number of people attending could you kindly confirm your attendance by emailing marion.money@landlords.org.uk
If you would like a question asked at the meeting but do not wish to do it personally you may email Marion.Money@landlords.org.uk and we will endeavour to make sure it is asked.
