Do you let any of your properties to 3 or more tenants? If the answer is yes then you let a shared house – a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).

Bristol Council is proposing to limit the number shared housing by requiring planning permission for all new HMOs in certain parts of the city.

To oppose this unnecessary move, the NLA is running a local campaign to oppose this Direction so please support us by clicking on the link below and registering your opposition with the decision-maker at Bristol City Council – Executive Member for Strategic Housing and Regeneration, Cllr Anthony Negus.

We have also arranged a special meeting on 22 March at 7pm in the Bristol Room, Memorial Stadium, Bristol Rovers Football Ground for members who either have or are thinking about buying property in Bristol. You will hear from representatives of the Council on why they have decided to apply for these powers and how they anticipate it will affect landlords and residents.

Many landlords were unaware of the proposal so this meeting will allow Landlords, students and residents an opportunity to understand the wider implications of the move prior to a final decision being made. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and make local Councillors aware of your views.
