New NLA branch for Shropshire
As part of its programme of building a network of branches across the country the National Landlords Association (NLA) has set up a branch in Shropshire.
This has been achieved in conjunction with local landlords and with Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council. The local authority is already a member of the NLA.
"We are very pleased to announce the establishment of this new branch", said Julie Woolfenden, the NLA Regional Representative for Shropshire & North Wales. "There was a desire for some form of body locally that could bring landlords together, hear their concerns and then voice those concerns to the relevant public bodies. In addition what was especially gratifying was that this could all be done in full co-operation with Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council who are as keen as ourselves that such an organisation be brought into being".
The new body, to be called NLA Shropshire, will be chaired by Ian Roberts, with Carmel Hazan as Secretary. The first meeting of the new branch will be held on Monday 27 November at the Guild Hall, Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury. It is envisaged that there will be three to four meetings a year.
"This is very good news for the private-rented sector in the Shrewsbury area, said Simon Gordon, NLA Head of Public Affairs, "as it is a great opportunity to bring local landlords together in a forum where they are able to voice their worries but also talk to each other and share experiences and best practice. We are especially pleased with the way this has worked out as it is ideal to have local landlords and the local authority working together with the support of, and in conjunction with, the NLA. We see this as a blueprint for the future and it is a way of doing things that we would certainly like to see replicated as more NLA branches are created across the country".
