NLA comments on Autumn Statement

David Salusbury, Chairman, National Landlords Association (NLA), commented on the Government’s Autumn Statement:

“The Government has pledged to support small businesses and encourage new investment with its Autumn Statement, but has missed a key opportunity to promote investment in affordable housing to rent by failing to extend the policy of income-tax relief to include landlords ready to invest in new residential property.

“One in five landlords is looking to invest in new housing for rent in the next 12 months, providing much needed accommodation at this time of high demand.

“With the Government acknowledging in the recently released Housing Strategy that “demand for rental housing likely to continue to rise”, and with nearly fifty thousand households in England living in temporary accommodation, incentives to increase the stock of well-managed, rental accommodation are essential.”
