The National Landlords Association (NLA) has donated to the homeless charity Crisis, to help provide food, warmth and a place to stay for people over the Christmas period.

The donation will allow the organisation to provide 50 people with hot meals at their special Christmas event.  They will also be provided with clothing if they require it, health checks and good company on the day.

Crisis hopes to welcome 2,800 people to the Christmas event this year, providing them with companionship and warmth over the festive season.

David Salusbury, Chairman, NLA, said:

“Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for homeless people and the National Landlords Association is proud to be able to support the Crisis appeal this year.

“Crisis does an excellent job of helping out those who have nowhere to go over the festive season, to alleviate some of the loneliness and ensuring they are kept warm during the winter.

“We have worked with Crisis throughout the year to help tackle homelessness, working on shared issues within the private-rented sector, and are pleased to end the year with a donation to Crisis at Christmas.”

NOTES TO EDITORS:
The National Landlords Association (NLA) is the UK’s leading organisation for private-residential landlords. It has over 20,000 paid-up members, ranging from full-time landlords with large property portfolios to those with just a single letting. NLA membership helps landlords make a success of their lettings business by providing a wide range of information, advice and services. The NLA campaigns for the legitimate interests of landlords by seeking to influence decision-makers at all levels of government and by making landlords’ collective voice heard in the media. It seeks to raise standards in the private-rented sector while aiming to ensure that landlords are aware of their statutory rights and responsibilities. Based at its head office in Central London, the NLA currently employs over 40 full-time staff and has a network of more than 40 regional representatives and branches throughout the UK.

The NLA is also a key partner in the Crisis Private Rented Sector Access Development Programme which funds new community based services helping single homeless people to find and sustain good quality accommodation in the private rented sector (PRS). The scheme builds on Crisis’ history and expertise in PRS solutions to homelessness and represents an investment of over £10m of DCLG funding over a three year period.
