You control the deposit: my|deposits is the only scheme designed specifically for landlords who want to keep hold of the deposit in their bank account for the duration of the tenancy, rather than handing it to a third party for safekeeping.

Freedom to deal with your tenants directly: By holding the deposit you take control. You have the freedom to discuss necessary deductions to the deposit (like cleaning charges or damage) directly with your tenants, without involving my|deposits.

Assistance with disputes: You can use our dispute resolution service to resolve issues with your tenants over the return of the deposit. It’s free and uses professional impartial adjudicators to review all the evidence; it’s also quicker and cheaper than the Court.

We encourage our members and tenants to talk through the issues first without involving us. In fact, since April 2007 only a third of 33,000 deposit dispute enquiries from tenants* have resulted in the need for a formal dispute that requires my|deposits dispute resolution service.

You can even respond to disputes using our exclusive online dispute resolution service. All evidence can be uploaded online; including AST contracts, inventories, photos, videos and correspondence. So you save money on postage, and importantly save time, meaning you could get the deposit money back quicker.

Flexible: It is simple to join; you pay a one off joining fee and then an individual protection fee to protect each deposit.

NLA members can save at total of over £50 on both the joining fee and the individual protection fees.
